TRAVEL INFO
We are delighted to welcome you to Italy and to the heart of Umbria.
To help you plan a smooth and enjoyable journey to Assisi, we have gathered some helpful travel information and recommendations below, including airports, train connections, car rental options, and private transfers.
-
Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is the main international gateway and the most convenient option for reaching Assisi, with frequent international connections and easy onward travel by train or private transfer.
-
Perugia Airport (PEG), located approximately 15 miles (25 km) from Assisi city center, offers a limited number of flights on select days of the week, with connections to cities such as Barcelona (BCN) and London (LHR).
This option may be convenient depending on your travel dates.
-
Italy’s high-speed and regional train network offers an efficient and scenic way to reach Umbria.
Assisi is easily accessible by train from major cities such as Rome and Florence. From the Assisi train station, taxis and local transfers are readily available to reach the city center and surrounding areas.
-
Renting a car is a wonderful way to explore Umbria at your own pace, especially for guests wishing to visit the countryside and nearby towns.
Please note that non-EU residents may be required to obtain an International Driving Permit in addition to their local driver’s license.
More information can be found here:
-
For a seamless and comfortable journey, private transfers from Rome to Assisi can be arranged in advance.
This is an excellent option for guests seeking a stress-free arrival, especially after long international flights.
We will be happy to share trusted local providers, including Umbria Chauffeurs, offering professional and reliable chauffeur services.
