Religious Encounters

Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi

One of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world. The upper and lower basilicas are adorned with extraordinary frescoes by Giotto, and the atmosphere is deeply moving. Our wedding year coincides with a special Franciscan Jubilee Year in 2026, marking the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis’s death—making a visit here especially significant for spiritual reflection and celebration.

Basilica of Saint Clare

A serene and luminous church dedicated to Saint Clare, offering beautiful valley views and a peaceful interior ideal for contemplation.

Church of Santa Maria Maggiore – Sanctuary of the Spoliation

The final resting place of Blessed Carlo Acutis, whose body is on public display. A modern figure of devotion, his presence draws visitors from around the world. The church itself is calm, simple, and deeply contemplative.

Cathedral of San Rufino

A Romanesque cathedral in the historic center, traditionally believed to be the baptism site of Saint Francis and Saint Clare. There is also a possibility that the heart of Blessed Carlo Acutis will be on display here during certain times.

Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli & La Porziuncola

Located just outside Assisi, this grand basilica was built to protect La Porziuncola, the tiny chapel where Saint Francis founded the Franciscan Order and spent his final years. The contrast between the immense basilica and the humble chapel at its heart is profoundly moving.
